Jeffrey George is the founder of a former famous clinic connected with hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was named “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was charged with illegal sales of anabolic steroids. As it was mentioned by investigators, he started todistribute controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact Jeffrey George participated in illegal activity of pain clinics established in Florida. He sold steroids per internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They got 40 million dollars due to illegal sales of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their several charges. Jeffrey George faced also a murder charge because a customer had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal activity through his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in different magazines connected with fitness as a part of therapy conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George due to steroids. He was charged with possession of anabolic steroids , intending to sell them in 2003. This person was sentenced to eight-month imprisonment. Later this man was involved in illegal sales of anabolic steroids, intending to bypass Florida’s laws which allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This person didn’t have any medical education. But he founded the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed some physicians that prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. This doctor got 5, 000 dollars per week for prescriptions of steroids for George’s clinic.
Since steroids were sold via internet and clients were far from the clinic, they had to perform certain tests in clinics that were located near to them. Then they filled results of tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per internet. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
A lot of sales consultants of the clinic applied anabolic steroids too. Furthermore, they got large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and sold them on the side. They also explained their clients how to apply and use together some steroids to reach better results in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to establish a clinic to sell steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was established.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two physicians who were employed by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They received 1, 000 dollars weekly.
The persons who opened two clinics mentioned above and physicians hired by them were charged with illegal sales of anabolic steroids and prescriptions via internet.

Actors increase their muscle size in short time
Anabolic steroids are definitively administrated by different actors. You can observe obvious changes in physique of actors in short time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short time he plays a role with enhanced muscles. How may actors increase their muscle size in short time? The answer is obvious. They administrate anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they apply performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” enhanced their muscles significantly to play needed roles. Undoubtedly, this factor led to questions about administration of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions related to administration of medications that possess performance-enhancing effects.
As it is known, Jason Momoa induced his muscle size by 30 pounds in order to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, who also played in “Conan the Barabarian” noted that Momoa achieved that results not because of steroids. Jason Momoa noticed that he desired to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without administration of steroids. It would be ideally, according to this actor. But he noted that our world and life were not ideal. Momao pointed out that he had trained a lot. Moreover, he followed a strict diet. He consumed broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, this actor induced his muscle mass by 20 pounds to be able to play Thor. Chris Hemsworth said that he had eaten very much. He said that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. The actor noticed that it had been quite difficult to eat, when he was not hungry. Furthermore, he had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was too exhausting.
It is interesting to mention that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this aspect unreal without administration of steroids? Nevertheless, he pointed out that he hadn’t taken anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also enhanced muscle mass significantly to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He claimed that he had enhanced muscle size due to trainings and a strict diet.

Blood tests for HGH will be performed once a year in the NFL
NFL players mistrust methods applied by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) intends to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, several skeptic arguments linked with the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Several specialists who are not involved in the WADA activity directly are skeptic to the methods applied by this agency. They justify the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a chief chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, is sure that the NFL players mistrust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, says that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH must be transparent. The WADA applies the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to note that according to several specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test is not proved scientifically. It is not trustworthy. Catlin claims that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which can be used by the WADA to determine sportspersons who use HGH. Sonksen elaborated a certain HGH testing method that is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use this method to identify users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they don’t understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved scientifically, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
However specialists notice about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to change the method.

A potential way to enhance muscles without physical exercises
Specialists try to find alternative medications to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They claim that athletes may soon have another way to bulk up. The Salk Institute has noted that the efforts of the specialists have got success. Late studies have displayed that blocking of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” leads to enhacement of muscle mass, strength and endurance. The leader of the researches conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, says that this knowledge may lead to development of certain new preparations which will benefit not only for sportspersons and bodybuilders who train but also for people that are sedentary.
The specialists of the Salk Institute notice about people who can’t perform physical exercises because they have different health problems, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological aspects which cause sedentarism. The specialists try to develop certain specific drugs that could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy people. Now they experiment with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they may lead to increase of muscle size in sedentary people. But individuals who use anabolic steroids should train and alter their diets in order to achieve better results.
If new drugs that block NCoR1 are developed by specialists successfully, they will cause significant changes in sedentary people. But could you imagine which positive effects will be caused in sportspersons?
But there is also an important difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. As it is known, anabolic steroids lead to unexpected symptoms; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even for life. Furthermore, anabolic steroids may lead to serious unexpected symptoms especially in females. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists assure that medications which will suppress this genome regulator will not cause negative reactions.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression which has got the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It describes results of various experiments which enrolled mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass significantly. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had more induced muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice that received anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further researches and conclusions.
It is possible to mention that elder individuals and people that have muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in researchers to check benefits of new potential medications.

Carl Fletcher was suspended from competitions till November 8, 2015
Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t participate in competitions 4 years. The suspension was claimed by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was accused in trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher sold more than 15 types of steroids. It was determined that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone were among the medications that had been supplied by this celebrated person. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this sportsman to 9 months in prison.
It is interesting to mention that the shot-putter from Britain never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you find this fact strange? How could it be? One may suppose that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not effective enough to catch consumers of steroids that participate in multinational sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD put essential efforts to release sports from cheating and intake of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These organizations also collaborate with law enforcement organizations in order to reach the needed results.
The UKAD claimed that anti-doping officials would be allowed to share information about names of sportspersons who applied anabolic steroids.
This case showed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement is very effective. It proved that law enforcement agencies may help greatly to detect the sportsmen that use anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is not possible to overvalue the role of these organizations in catching of cheaters in sports. Andy Parkinson, the CEO of the UKAD, confirms that if law enforcement organizations collaborate with the UKAD, they will have success.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain situation linked with administration of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had been involved in the illegal business led by his uncle and cousin. That’ why Fletcher was suspended from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Yannick Noah faced sharp criticism after publishing his article about steroids in sports
Spanish sportsmen had sharp words for the French former tennis player, Yannick Noah. This person wrote an unbelievable article “La Potion Magique” which was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. The former tennis player from France notes in his work that sportspersons from Spain have several advantages and win competitions because they take anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has more loyal attitude to steroid use than France; that’s why sportspersons from Spain have more increased muscles and are successful in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a well-known Spanish athlete, notes that Yannick Noah wrote completely stupid statements and comments in the article. He is surprised how Noah’s article was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadalwho won 10 Grand titles points out that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such things that are worthy to be published. According to the Spanish sportsman, statements of the former tennis player from France do not deserve being made public.
David Ferrer, a celebrated tennis player from Spain, confirms that Yannick Noah is an ignorant man. Ferrer can’t understand how a man like Noah who was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works is able to write such things.
Tennis is not the only area of sports in which Spain had success. Spanish basketball players won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, a cyclist from Spain, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football director, point out that Yannick Noah must prove, if he points out that Spanish athletes apply steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he can’t prove it, he should not write about it.
French athletes support attitude of Spanish sportsmen towards Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a celebrated French tennis player, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the director of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that persons that do not agree with the statements of Noah.

Production of steroids may be defined as child abuse in some states
Ruben Jaramillo, a man in New Mexico, is accused in child abuse. Police raided his house and discovered that his house served as an underground lab that had produced anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, anybody may be accused in child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment utilized for manufacture or keeping of these banned medicines are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team invaded the house, they found out that there was a clandestine lab in it. Police oficcers discovered some kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of the controlled substances. Some vials were labeled “Testosterone Cypionate”. Furthermore, police officers pointed out that information related to prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical compounds were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s two daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police officers raided the house.
As it is known, New Mexico is not the only state where the manufacture of anabolic steroids can be defined as child abuse. At least 10 other states have got the same laws. Such laws are established not without any reasons.
Chemical ingredients may be toxic. They may influence on children’s health too negatively. It is necessary also to keep in mind that there is a risk of fires and explosions of several chemical substances. Parents who manufacture anabolic steroids at home do not worry about their children’s health. The children may face essential dangers in such situations. How may children live in a methamphetamine lab and be free of dangers?
Parents that just take steroids differ from those that manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first situation in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is defined as child abuse by prosecutors.

Which references from Laraque’s book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy” are interesting for the media?
Georges Laraque wrote his autobiography in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He desired to tell about his biography to others. Georges Laraque noted also about intake of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These facts about steroids use in NHL seemed to be very interesting. The Canadian press published only the quotes related to this eternal subject. The rest of the book was ignored.
Georges Laraque pointed out in an interview that he had never administrated performance-enhancing drugs. Moreover, he pointed out that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the sportsmen that had taken steroids. The book is indeed about life of the author.
The author describes some ways in order to determine whether a hockey player takes steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways described by him:
1. A hockey player who gains more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be applying performance-enhancing drugs.
2. A hockey player whose weight has been reduced significantly in short period of time to correspond to the indications of the Winter Olympics must be using performance-enhancing drugs.
Of course, all sportsmen, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency. That’s why they cease using the forbidden preparations certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to prevent risk of testing positive for these medications.
But this is not the chief idea of the book. The author desired to display that a child has to put incredible efforts to become a celebrated professional sportsman in spite of discrimination and bullying. But the media doesn’t pay attention on this theme. The media wants to publish stories related to administration of steroids by sportsmen.
It was not the purpose of the author to name the hockey players that took steroids.
Of course, the media asks the author to name steroid users of the NHL.

The president and CEO of the YMCA kept information related to the investigation at his association in secret
An investigation that lasted 2 years detected and closed a large-scale underground laboratory related to steroids. The investigation was conducted under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-organized activity of the certain authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a distributor of steroids distributed these medications to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was told about it, the investigations began. The authority made a decision to send an officer who had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid dealer. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this goal.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only person at this association who was informed about the investigation. He had ability to keep all things he knew about the activity of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a huge organization linked with distribution of steroids was detected.
32 persons took part in the illegal activity connected with selling of steroids. They were charged with corrupt activities, supplying and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to detect only producers and distributors of steroids. Although it didn’t focalize on clients that bought these medications, the officers noticed that professional athletes and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars which were claimed to be a profit from selling of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA told openly to media about the results of the investigation. He didn’t fear to notice that he had taken part in this activity to catch the criminal organization. Caroll said that he was too happy to find out about the positive results.
It is important to note that it was quite difficult to detect the criminal organization. Major Burke had to put efforts to get steroids from a dealer. As a result of the investigation, an underground lab in Tennessee was detected. It manufactured steroids in injectable form. The raw was imported from China. The leaders of selling were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to the undercover agent, personal interactions between distributors and clients were avoided in this organization. There was a special organized locker system which helped to prevent direct interactions.
Although this activity linked with manufacture and distribution of steroids was well-organized, the law-enforcement could detect it to close the laboratory. The result of the investigation displays that it can be confirmed the following statement: if the authority gives chief priority to such investigations, positive results may be reached.

The HGH biomarker test is better than the HGH isoform ratio test used by the WADA
Players of the NFL don’t trust methods utilized by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to understand the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) made a decision to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic thoughts related to the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Certain specialists who are not linked with the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods used by this agency. They justify the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a chief chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, is sure that the NFL players are skeptic to the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. The point of view of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH must be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is important to notice that according to certain specialists, the method of this test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research notes that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that can be utilized by the WADA to identify athletes who use HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t applies the method of Sonksen to catch consumers of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they don’t see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by scientists, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
However experts point out about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t intend to to utilize the HGH biomarker test.

Why did Kathy Jager use steroids?
Kathy Jager, a celebrated sportsperson, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why she was excluded from participation in competitions. Kathy Jager can’t compete till the age of 70. This is the establishment of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
Kathy Jager used steroids because these drugs were recommended by the doctor to improve her hormone balance. According to the establishments of World Anti-Doping Agency, sportsmen may utilize steroids for medical purposes and participate in competitions, if they receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But Kathy Jager did not receive a TUE which could allow her to apply these preparations without being excluded from competitions.
It is necessary to notice that this famous person doesn’t treat intake of anabolic steroids seriously.
She tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between athletes of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for intake of banned substances. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this sportsperson took EstraTest HS that contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a single tablet.
She noted that she had utilized EstraTest for medical needs. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and banned her from competitions.
The case related to Kathy Jager caused many debates. Several people condemned her for application of banned medicines, others justified her.
When she was banned the first time, she administrated steroids in order to escape from menopausal troubles. The preparations were recommended by her healthcare provider. Then she ceased administrating prescribed products and began to use herbal preparations.
So, this sportswoman can’t participate in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the World Anti-Doping Agency will give her a TUE or not.
