Oscar De La Hoya is the president of Golden Boy Promotions. Richard Schaefer is the CEO of this company. These individuals accused the boxer Manny Pacquiao in administration of steroids. Since this accusation could hurt Many Pacuiao’s career, he filed a defamation lawsuit against these persons, the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father.
But later Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum, his promoter, reached an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. So, Manny Pacquiao dropped lawsuit against the president and CEO of the promotional company Golden Boy Promotions. But the defamation lawsuit against the fighter Floyd Mayweather and his father remained in power.
Richard Schaefer and Oskar De LA Hoya announced that they denied their prior confirmations about accusation in intake of steroids by Manny Pacquiao. They announced that there was no any reason to suspect this fighter in application of prohibited drugs. They admitted that Manny Pacquiao was one of the best fighters of all times. At the end of agreement, the president of Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum, the founder of Top Rank, shook their hands.
It is claimed that this apology will cause competitions between Top Rank fighters and Golden Boy fighters.
Since the accusation was related to Manny Pacquiao, the apology was directed at him too. He accepted it and removed the defamation that was connected with Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer.
At the beginning the accusation in administration of performance-enhancing medications delayed the competition between Pacquiao and Mayweather. It happened because Mayweather insisted on tests for prohibited medicines by the WADA.
Later Mayweather refuted to fight with Pacquiao again, referring to steroid accusation. It caused extreme impatience in fans because they were expecting the fight.
