Ismael Melendez received a prison sentence of 9 years for weapons’ charge in 2005. This man has served as an inmate there. Recently Melendez was accused in supplying prisoners with anabolic steroids. Melendez promoted sales of prohibited medicines inside and even outside the prison in New York. Melendez faces charges of prison contraband, illegal possession of prohibited substances and illegal possession of syringes.
It was found out that Richard Finley, Melendez’ substance abuse counselor, had been involved in the criminal activity of Melendez. This person worked over 10 years for the Cape Vincent prison. Finley helped him to distribute anabolic steroids outside the prison. He was arrested in November 2011. It happened when Finley had caught during distribution of anabolic steroids to a person in a certain car lot.
Melendez sent Finley to deliver certainillegal medicines to a client. The purchase was made in a certain shopping centre.
Of course, a question may appear: Why did the substance abuse counselor start to promote selling forbidden medicines?
The substance abuse counselor admitted why he had agreed to help Melendez . The inmate promised to give him HGH and 1500 dollars. It would have been given as exchange for promotion of smuggling alcohol, anabolic steroids and creatine inside the prison. But Finley was arrested by the police and charged with possession of illegal preparations and a hypodermic instrument.
Finley made also another immense mistake. He brought his little child of 7 years old, when he was involved in the crime. That’s why Finley was also accused in endangering the welfare of a child.
This caused a suspension of Finley from his work without any pay. Thus, this person lost the well-paying job. It is known that Finley got over 52, 000 dollars per year.
The inmate was transferred to another jail. This man continues to serve his sentence.
