A judge sentenced to 6 months in prison a former police officer that claimed that his addiction to steroids led him to the corruption

The former West Chest Police Department David Busemeyer tried to prove that his addiction to anabolic steroids had caused his corruption. But the former cop was not able to convince the judge. As a result, David Busemeyer was sentenced to a half of a year in jail. The former police officer was pleaded guilty to leaking confidential information of the Police Department that started an investigation linked with a steroid dealer.
David Busemeyer claimed in the court that he had been angered and confused due to his addiction to steroids.
The defense attorney for the former police official tried to convince the judge that David Busemeyer had to be cured from his addiction. He tried to demonstrate that it would be the most suitable sentence for this officer’s crime.
According to several court documents, Busemeyer took steroids for 4 years. Moreover, he used 10-15 pain tablets under prescriptions to relieve pains provoked by steroids.  
But the judge refused to accept such excuse. It seemed at the beginning that he planned to hand down even harsher sentence but then he gave a lighter sentence because he had to follow sentencing guidelines.
The judge Spaeth noted that David Busemeyer had put at risk own safety and safety of other police officials. He imperiled reputation of the whole police department.
 It became obvious that David Busemeyer had extra-marital relationship with the sister of the drug dealer who was investigated by police officers. Busemeyer informed his girlfriend and his brother that an investigation to bust the drug dealer began to be conducted.
Although David Busemeyer didn’t say the name of the informant, he presented enough information to guess who he was.
Police officials raided Busemeyer’s house and found steroids and evidence of his Administartion of steroids.
It was chosen not to conduct a prosecution against the former police official for possession of steroids and fake prescriptions for intake of these preparations.
